Hope someone can help me here! Several years ago I was doing the Macrobiotic Diet. One of the things I was told was that sesame seeds are very good for you because of the high calcium content. But there is something in the sesame seeds that won't let you absorb that calcium if eaten raw. They told me to roast the sesame seeds and they will be more useful to the body. Does anybody know about this and it this is indeed true?

Sesame seeds are good source of iron. You will probably get more benefit if you grind them. You can accomplish that by chewing them very thoroughly, but a mortar and pestle would be more practical. If you just swallow them, or chew them for the amount of time one would normally chew food, most of it will pass through your digestive tract pretty much unchanged. _________________ 2gb pro duo |
