The product is from Kiehl's and it's called
All-sports swimmers cleansing rinse
I have no idea if it really works or not, but at least I smell alot less chlorine on my skin after using it.
Gopisvara, you are absolutely right, there is nothing to gain from ignoring sad facts. That's a big enough problem in our world as it is.
But I'm still hoping that there is some way I can minimize the bad effects (using salt water pools, spending more time in the sauna, using something to neutralize the rest of the chlorine on the skin, or anything else anyone can think of..) so that I can enjoy swimming in moderation.
I travel alot and I have noticed that swimming pools in America smell ALOT more of chlorine than over here. They probably use a stronger solution.
Here in Iceland it is generally too cold to swim in the sea. On the bright side we are really lucky that our water is among the cleanest in the world, so nothing is added to the drinking water or the water we shower in, there is no need to. And we don't have to heat up the swimming pools or hot tubs because we have enough naturally warm water from the ground. That's why we have so many outdoor pools.
I have never heard of ozone in pools, thanks for pointing that out, I should do some research on it. |

| One thing to consider is that the chlorine left on your skin is a separate issue from the chlorine you have already absorbed THROUGH your skin. |

Gopisvara, that's true. That's why I'm thinking about the salt water pools and saunas.
However, you must absorb some of the chlorid ions from the salt (NaCl) in the salt water pools, right? So you're not completely off the hook, are you? even using those in stead of the chlorine pools?
Hey, I just remembered something I read a long time ago in some candida book. I don't know if it's bullshit or not, but I once read this advice on keeping too much chlorine from entering through your skin. You were supposed to smear yourself in olive oil, or any good kind of oil, 15 minutes before entering the pool. It was supposed to work like a "raincoat" if you didn't swim for too long...
Haha, I realize I'm being really stubborn about this, trying to find any solution so I can keep living in denial!

|

I use a Hot Tub regularly, and LOVE it. It was recommended from my chiropractor/Natural healer when my back flared up a few years ago so I bought one. Regular soaking to help detox and just plain feel good.
I use a mineral sanitizer in my filter and a Copper based sanitizer in the water for the bacteria and such. I also add Oyster Shell Tablets which keeps it Chrystal clear and free of foam, there's not an odor either.
Bromine or Chlorine is optional, but Chlorine use would void my warranty, (which says a lot about chlorinated pools).
Copper is a great alternative, the levels used are well below what is considered "safe" for water consumption, and I like the "feel" of the water. |

Hey i have the same view of the chlorine, i used to swim 45mins a day but after swimming in the sea on holiday & coming back to the pool i can't take the nasty chlorine!
So now i do treadmill, weights & rowing, THEN, i cover my self in almond oil, take a cold shower to close the pores & go for a 20minute swim, the oil makes the water bead off my body so it doesnt absorb much, i've noticed that my skin is not as dried out after swimming
Remember to cold shower after the oil, if you don't then your pores will be open & take in more chlorine, miss out the hot tub & stick to the sauna after swimming
(i say miss out the hot tub, i mean public hottubs, if you have your own one at home, go for it!)
I hope i helped! |

Hello everyone.
I am really new to this. I agree swimming is one of the most complete exercises there are, but I also agree that pools, especially indoor polls, have lots of chlorine.
Now, how about hot springs? Are they safe?
Have a great one,

Chlorine has an effect on your skin and especially to your health. So it is necesasary to take bath after swim to wash off the chlorine, so try to make a a safe and sanitary swimming environment for you and your family. These results in that small amount of chlorine will also be in the air and it will not only affect you but also other users of the sauna. _________________ ds r4 |
